Heriot-Watt University and Tomsk Polytecjnic University is glad to annonce the competition for the Masters program education in  2010-2011 and granted employment within an oil company of the Russian Federation and abroad  

In September 2001, Petroleum Learning Centre was established at Tomsk Polytechnic University. The Centre delivers MSc programs of Edinburgh-based Heriot-Watt University. Currently, we offer two MSc’s: Petroleum Engineering and Reservoir Evaluation & Management. During a 12-month intensive course, the students obtain multi-disciplinary theoretical knowledge, master teamwork skills and get an experience of independent work addressing actual operation issues of petroleum industry; thus building a foundation for a successful career in modern-day petroleum industry.

The lectures are delivered in English by Heriot-Watt professors as well as Centre’s teachers and tutors certified by Heriot-Watt University. Those students that have successfully completed the course are awarded both Heriot-Watt MSc and TPU diploma of professional re-training. Each MSc program incorporates four three-month semesters packed with lectures and practical work.

The following modules are included into the training program: Geoscience, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Drilling Engineering, Production Technology, Reservoir Simulation and Economics. Each of the modules is concluded by a written examination conducted in English. The knowledge obtained during the theoretical course is then applied when students work on team projects aimed at integrating theoretical knowledge and real field data. Team projects are presented to the Examination Board. The presentation is also relayed to Heriot-Watt University in real time, so HWU professors have an opportunity to be on the Examination Board as well.

Students obtain proficiency in a selected discipline while working on individual research projects, when each one of them is supposed to research a particular problem and produce a report which is essentially an MSc dissertation.

In the year 2010-2011 the Centre will deliver two MSc programmes:

• MSc in Petroleum Engineering

• MSc in Reservoir Evaluation and Management

The students are granted:

1. Sponsored MSc course education, diplomas of both Heriot-Watt University and Tomsk Polytechnic University.
2. A job with a major oil sponsor-company.
3. Scolarship for the period of education.
4. Accomodation in a comfortable European-style dormitory.
