The mission of Petroleum Learning Centre, a joint project of Tomsk Polytechnic University of Russia and Heriot-Watt University of Scotland is to train qualified personnel capable of working in modern-day environment of Russian petroleum industry. Established in 2001, the Centre headed towards implementing innovative post-graduate training programs, delivering internationally acknowledged MSc degrees. During a year-long curriculum that incorporates various training phases, our students obtain multi-disciplinary theoretical knowledge, master teamwork skills and get an experience of independent work addressing actual operation issues of petroleum industry.

The quality of our work is assured by our well-experienced faculty certified by Heriot-Watt University. Our customers include such respected companies as  Schlumberger, EPS, Kappa.


 

MSc programs:

 
Heriot-Watt University in cooperation with Tomsk Polytechnic University announces a competition for the Msc programs for the 2010-2011 academic year, followed by job placement in oil and gas companies of Russia and abroad.

Application deadline - April, 16th
 
The students are granted:
1. Sponsored MSc course education, diplomas of both Heriot-Watt University and Tomsk Polytechnic University.
2. A job with a major oil sponsor-company.
3. Scolarship for the period of education.
4. Accomodation in a comfortable European-style dormitory.


 

 

   

 

Short сourses:

Petroleum Learning Centre has been delivering short courses since 2003. Although this line of work is relatively new to the Centre, the efficiency of its instructors and managers is greatly appraised by the customers.

Short courses are delivered in two comfortable classrooms. Each attendee’s workplace is equipped with a powerful PC having all the software required for the course. The classrooms are also fitted with multimedia and overhead projectors; if required, other facilities of the Centre can be used for the courses, including the only Center (3D visualization room) in Siberia. In the period from 2003 to 2008 more than 3000 specialists graduated the Center .




  Research activities:
 

Research is a very important line of activity at Petroleum Learning Centre. Besides educational programs, Centre’s employees are involved in the following research projects: technical skills assessment development of design and cost estimate documents for well construction, geological simulation,  development of field design documents.
